After going through a couple of medium priced off the shelf drills that either locked up or were too heavy to use comfortably in a days work this one proved to go the distance! Lightweight, very quiet, easy to use, and super powerful! One year old and going strong! BEST DRILL EVER!

Trully a great drill

I'm an electrician and i can tell you out of all the cordless drills we have and had this one is by far the best. It's perfect for me light weight, very powerful, and the battery lasts forever. It beats the Dewalt and makita 14.4 V cordless drills in every department as i own these drills also. My company will in the future buy a few more of these to replace the others since we all fight to get the Panasonic.

I've been using cordless drills since they first came out 25yrs ago. I've had 7.6 volt skill, 9 volt BD, 12 volt skill, 12 volt bosch, 14.4 Riobi, 14.4 DeWalt and 18 volt Bosch and the 12 volt Panasonic is the best. It's light and the batteries hold a charge longer then any other. I use my drills all day everyday and I have to change from driving screw to drilling holes and this drill works and it doesn't wear out you arm. What more could you want. Yeah it cost more but you get what you pay for.

Just bought my second one. I have no need for anything more than 12 volts with this torque monster. It's light, well balanced, and I use it daily outside in the rain and dirt. (Fence contractor) An electrician friend of mine turned me onto Panasonic drills 3 years ago, and I won't consider another Dewalt. I'd give it 5, but nothings ever perfect. Great tool, great case.

I have drills from Dewalt, Freud, Makita, Ryobi and Panasonic in my wood working shop. I have from 9.6 volt to 18 volt and the 12-volt panasonic is the preferred drill I use all the time. The clutch is great, It has good power for dilling and screwing. The batteries seem to have good charge life. I have used the drill for about 2-years now and its still going strong. I just ordered the new digital impact driver and another 12v to replace two of my other drills that are newer. I would highly recommend their drills to anyone.

I'm an Army retiree and now a small-time farmer, woodworker and household improvement guy and I've owned or used most all kinds of cordless drills. I needed another one and wanted a light, powerful 12-volt drill. After doing all the comparisons on Amazon, the Panasonic came out on top with the tie-breakers being it's compact size and the 1/2" chuck. I really liked the compactness of the Makita 12-volt driver I have and wanted a stubby, powerful drill to match it. I also liked the 1/2" chuck option--using my old 3/4" chuck Black Decker is hard work and limited by an electric cord. I've had the Panasonic 12-volt for about 8-months now and have used it for all kinds of wood and metal drilling tasks with metal and wood bits from #60 to 1/2". It centers and holds them all and holds tight enough to etch the chuck end of the bit on larger bits. Like that old 3/4" inch Black Decker or other powerful corded and cordless drills, this little 12-volt Panasonic has the power to make you hold on with both hands if you're drilling into thick metal or thick wood using larger bits; it'll twist out of one hand rather than bind or have the bit slip (unless you're unusually strong with big hands!). The drill first starts at 50-RPM whereas other ones will start at just above 0-RPM, but I have had no problems with small bits breaking off at the start RPM of the Panasonic, in metal or hardwood. I buy professional-grade tools and expect them to do the jobs they were intended to do forever and without babying them along and with zero performance or maintenance problems. This Panasonic does that for sure and I expect it to do so for a long, long time.

A friend from work (tool guru) convinced me to buy this drill for the light weight to high amp ratio and Panasonic reputation. I'm so glad he did. I cannot say enough about the workability of this drill compared to the DeWalt and Bosch models I have had. The newer battery types may knock this one off the hill in the near future, but I know I will get my use out of this drill for years.

I have a small custom cabinetry shop and have been using these drills for five years now. The original batterys still hold a charge decently and the drills still work like new, even though they don't look it. What we like most about these drills is their weight, balance, size, trigger control and durability. Our drills have seen alot of use and abuse over the years. The only thing that we managed to break was the clips on one of the batteries and that was only after it was dropped off of a 16ft. ladder onto concrete. If you are a home owner who is just tinkering around you can buy a much cheaper drill and you will be just fine, but if you are looking for a drill that will take alot of use and abuse and keep on going, I would recommend this product.

I first purchased this same cordless several years ago, which one of the batteries has recently stopped taking a charge. I just purchased this second for more batteries and felt the price was right for a second drill.
br /
br /The batteries typically do recharge quickly, and for a lightweight tool, it is quite powerfull. The 1/2" chuck capacity makes it much more versitile. There are times I've needed the torque of a corded drill, but not often.

I love this drill. So much that this is the third one I've ordered.
br /I've tried them all - MAKITA, DEWALT, MILWAUKEE, ETC., and none stack up to this one. As an electrician, I like the fact that it is small and light enough for installing switches and receptacles, but strong enough to drill 3/4" holes with no problems. The 3.5 amp hour batteries just go and go. I know that lithium batteries are the new "in" thing, but I'll give them a little time to iron out the bugs.

I've been building furniture for over 30 years, and I've used driver drills made by Makita, Bosch, DeWalt and Milwaukee with excellent results. All, however, used NiCad batteries. With the demise of my 5 year old Bosch,it was time to investigate newer battery technology.I researched and "test drove" driver drills and impact drivers with both NiMH and Lithium ion batteries. I chose a driver/drill because I need both excellent torque for driving and high speed for clean drilling.Lithium ion batteries are great, but the cost/benefit ratio didn't justify the extra expense for my application. A good amp/hr NiMH would give me what I need with little "battery memory" issues.
br /I selected the Panasonic because of the "beast" of a battery it possesses, good size/weight, high torque, high speed, good features, positive reviews by colleagues, and the great price brokered by Amazon.
br /I've used the tool for a month now, and it meets all of my expectations. It feels good. It performs all of my applications very well, and it's tougher than a two dollar steak. Obviously, the ultimate test will be determined by it's performance over time. However, Panasonic's reputation for quality industrial tools leads me to feel confortable with my purchase.

I am a weekend warrior, so when I bought this drill 5 years ago, I knew it was an overkill. It's pricey, but as far as I am concerned well worth it. This 12 volt drill does 99% of what I have asked of it. It has no trouble driving 1/4"x 3 1/2" lag bolts in to pressure treated lumber without pilot hole. It will even drive 5/16" x 3" lags, though it does complain a bit.
br / Things I love about this drill:
br / 1) Best battery on the market at 3.0/3.5 ah
br / 2) Surprising torque. Don't think 282 in/lbs is much? I have not found much it can't drive.
br / 3) Nice balance, and relatively light.
br / 4) Holds bits. I don't have a problem with the ratcheting sound. It locks down tight on any bit. Never had a bit slip.
br /After 5 years, the batteries are starting to drain a little faster, but it out performs many of the drills on the market today. Tool is only as good as the battery, and Panasonic's battery is top notch. This is a great drill.

I am a weekend woodworker and have had trouble with battery life in drills in the past ( just like everybody else in the tool world) but I can say that this drill is as good as all of the reviews that was posted and also all the articles that I have read in the woodworking magazines. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was for the price of this compared to other big name drills. But so far I am glad I spent the extra money.

Hello, I am a prototype machinest that is acustomed to outstanding tools. This is my second Panasonic ( my first lasted about 10 years , the batteries are a little weak now but I use them with the trouble light that came with this system, it also is a great tool for all round tasks that my whole family use three or four times a week , including camping trips ). This new tool is heavier than the old 12v machine. All things considered, these Panasonics are the best of the range that the home-centers offer with the bonus that they are '' Professional " , designed to do real work in real work enviorments ( I see the other companies drivers failing even though the new designs have improved ) . I am associated with the Auto Industry and keep seeing Panasonic products poping up in the tool shops. This is a Top Quality tool , if you end up buying one you will have the best tool of it's type . As an aside , I purchased the little Skil ixo screwdriver ( about $40 ) that even my wife and grandchildren can do thier screwdriving without chasing me down. Ah, I'm a complete man again. p.s. the old Panasonic 12v unit worked with me for a decade, I replaced it because the batteries were getting weak.

Panasonic makes good cordless drills/drivers. They are well designed and last a long time. Probably the best 2 things about them is the flawless chuck design (holds even the smallest of bits in place without coming loose), and the long 3.5Ah runtime batteries. That said, they are more expensive than other brands.
br /In comparing this driver to a Makita, I found that the Makita was not as well made. The Makita chuck often loosens on it's own which is annoying. The battery charger on the Makita is more compact, which is nice, but the case the Makita comes with is way too big, whereas the Panasonic case doesn't have so much empty space. Also the Panasonic operates more smoothly.

The drill itself was excellent in feel and operation. I liked that it had a NiMH battery and great balance. But, the chuck constantly clicks when you load or unload a bit. Instead of the smooth turning I'm used to in a drill, you can't easily turn or spin the chuck. I took the drill to a repair center and was advised that this was normal for Panasonic and that you needed to use the motor to spin down the chuck to the bit, not easy when using a small bit. The tech also noted the battery was manufactured 3 years ago. I returned the drill and bought a Mikita Li-ion 18v, very happy.

i have the panasonic ey6105, and at first it was fine, like finding a new flavor ice cream you like. but soo flaws emerged, the chuck did not firmly grasp the bit and hence the bit would stall in the workpiece. then the battery ended it's live way too early, perhaps after 30 or so charge cycles. and it never did hold a charge long even at first, and there was such little power delivered from the batery that little torque developed to turn thru anything but the flimsiest of material. then panasonic seems to develop new batteries without backward design leaving old models in the lurch. i have been trying to find a replacement battery with zero luck. calling panasonic did zero, they said that they did not support all models of their products. so buyer beware when the drill ages and you need parts...might as well toss.
br /
br /so i refuse to buy panasonic tools, they do not measure up to real pro tools and their designed obsolescence ticks you off when they will not support what they make. and my drill is all of 1 yhear old...and useless unless i hook it up to a motorcycle battery.
