Good, solid, quality hammer drill

I used this Bosch hammer drill to make about 50- 3/8 inch diameter holes in a concrete floor slab, and 50 holes in brick and mortar, it worked great. The drill had a good amount of weight and power. I even used it to drill a 1" diameter hole (the bit fit a 1/2 in. diameter chuck) in a brick wall it was no problem after drilling a 3/8 in. pilot hole. I debated buying a lighter weight drill but would not recommend anything lighter for drilling in concrete. I thought the case was great (unlike other reviews) and the depth gage seemed sufficient although I didn't use it. The one I have is a -factory reconditioned- but was totally new and never used. Bosch is high quality and I expect this drill to last for many years. I would also recommend the Bosch hammer drill bits instead of the yellow brand. I used both and the difference was clear, you get what you pay for.

This is perfect for the DIYer. Concrete isn't a problem and drilling through block is no match. I've had to drill through wet wood that bound my "yellow" drill, but it couldn't stop the Bosch. Like everything else Bosch makes, this is one excellent piece of equipment that will last a long, long time. I would have liked a metal measure stick so that it would last as long as the drill, but that's minor.

Great Drill!!!

Bosch has done it again, great product at a reasonable price. I've used mine to install furring strips on both sides of a 200 ft. long block building, works great. Two speed gear box is awesome and it has plenty of power for drilling through even poured concrete. Comfortable to use, lightweight and still tough as can be. You can use it all day and never wear out. AWESOME!!

Bosch hammer drills are at the top of the class of this type of tool.

For the money there is no better. All of my Bosch tools are tough, rugged, powerful and well designed. Well worth the money. The depth gauge is a plastic joke!, but I never use a depth gauge, I use tape around the bit; not worth derating the tool to four stars.

This drill has done all I've asked of it. I've owned it about a year now and have used it mostly for drilling in concrete, block and stone. It has plenty of power, runs smooth and I love the full trigger. The depth guage works great for me. I am not a contractor but do many jobs for and with friends and family and am also remodeling my house so it has been used alot. I would highly recommend this tool.

After my Harbor Freight junk coughed its guts trying to pierce my basement floor this Bosch didn't break a sweat knocking out the task. It's quite simply a well balanced powerful professional drill. The kind of quality that makes you consider this brand for any power tool purchase.

I bought this drill as a father's day gift and my dad absolutley loves it. I did some considerable research before purchasing and it looks like it payed off. It is a very powerful tool and cuts through concrete like if it was soft cheese. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a high quality hammer drill.

Not bad.

The drill has reasonable power. However, it gets hot easily. Also, the side handle doesn't tighten too well. The gear box is a great feature, however.

Better than a big hammer drill

Works great going into the basement apts,as far as I'm concerned its as good as my large hammer drill and not as heavy and has the power.

Another solid drill

I've been pleased with this drill's solid construction and excellent torque and speed control. I've used it a few times for concrete and it's done very well (easy switch masonry-wood, good power). Overall, it will drill holes in most wood types like they're a stick of butter.

br /It might be a little heavy for sustained overhead work, but that's a minor nit.

Used to drill through brink and 50 year old concert. Super Strong.

Well, this is a very solid, well-made drill that's smooth and easy to use. Relatively light but very powerful, it drove 10-inch timber spikes easily, especially on the high-torque setting. Haven't needed the hammer capability yet.
br /
br /I was cross-shopping the well-regarded Milwaukee Magnum Hole-shooter for about the same price. The Bosch is rated at 8 amps (vs. 5.5), and of course has the 2-speed drive gearing and the hammer-drill capability, neither of which is available on either the Magnum ($90) or the 8amp Milwaukee ($160).
br /
br /Although the Bosch case is lightweight, at least they include a case! It's held up for me so far, and I've not broken the depth gauge either. Not sure why people downgrade these "extras" when the drill itself is the star and at a good price, too. Highly recommended.

I bought this because my Makita drill couldn't keep up. This drill is much more powerful. I don't use the depth gauge so that was no problem. The case does look cheap. I sat and worked the clips that hold the case closed back and forth expecting them to break. They didn't, that doesn't mean they are good though. The variable speed quit under heavy use. Still for the price I think it was a good buy and would do it again.

Got more power/amps than DeWalt. Case is flimsy but don't ever use it any ways. Good product for the price, if bought online, more expensive if bought in the home improvement stores.

Over all satisfaction excellent. I should have bought one a long time ago, makes drilling holes in concrete for electrical boxes a snap. The only problem is I dont like the depth gage attachement. Hard to read and hard to keep in place. I just used the depth gage I make myself. I also bought the attached bit set. Good bargain

The drill is great. It drills holes in concrete and masonry effortlessly and accurately. It's powerful and reliable.
br /
br /But, the case is terrible. It's flimsy and the clips that hold it shut are destined to break apart within a few months. I rely on a tool's case to protect it during storage and transport to and around jobsites - this case doesn't cut it.

Bosch can keep the fancy chuck key and give me a better case!

Pros: It's corded; no more rechargables for me! The drill itself has met my hobby level wood working expectations.
br /
br /Cons: It's corded; cord like all cords gets in the way. Cheap, low quality case. When open, the case is flimsy and the hinges are very thin. The plastic inside the case is sharp and jagged. The layout inside the case in not intuitive and will take a couple of trys to get everything back in. The chuck key has a spring loaded needle at the end that will eject the key should you forget to remove it from the chuck. It complicates the insertion more than meeting its purpose.

Seems ok. Unit does run hot and I broke a few of the teeth off the chuck key. Case snaps are cheap and looks like they will break. But seems to run ok.

The drill is very nice. Used it with a 3/4 masonary bit and a 1 1/2 spade bit, had plenty of power for it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is the case. It is cheap plastic and I doubt it will last long.
