To date this is probably the best drill I have ever owned.brwhat I was looking for in a drill is Torque, this one has it.brI highly recomend it.

My wife bought me this drill for my birthday and I've been very impressed with it. I've used it to drill large diameter holes and have also used it as a screw gun, it works extremely well in both areas. Everything on the drill seems well made, no small parts to break off. I especially like the 2 fingered trigger and egronomic grip for applying pressure to the bit.pI don't see how anyone could be disppointed with this tool.

This is an extremely well built and durable drill, suitable for contractor use. The electric brake on this model is one of the best I have ever used. The overall fit and finish is excellent, and the balance is perfect. The drill comes with a hardshell carrying case that keeps everything together. The ambdextrous screw-on handle is very comfortable.

I use Forstner bits for wood boring and this is the best hand drill I have ever used. The hight torque and low RPM's are a great combination. If you plan to use wood boring bits with this drill, I recommend using the side grip to avoid injury if there is a kick-back, this drill has that much torque. If I lean on this drill with the full force of my 275 pounds it barely slows. It has handled everything I have thrown at it with no problems.

I've had this drill for about a month, and used it to drill 3/8" cast iron plate. This drill has plenty of power and torque, it will not bog down. It has a very comfortable fit in your hand, and has a two finger trigger which is very nice. If you need a strong hand drill, you won't disappointed.

br /One thing to watch out for is the trigger lock, if you don't pay attention you can set it without knowing it, and if the drill bit binds. You can not hold this DRILL, other than that, for the money a excellent drill

We've never owned a really good drill before so this one was such a pleasure to use. It just works. I haven't had reason to use the detatchable driving handle much but it's nice to have. The best part is the electric brake. It has prevented a lot of stripping. This thing is heavy and without a strong hand, the mixture of the powerful torque and something like a hole saw could rip this drill right out of your hand; that's where the electric brake comes in but watch your wrist. So, hold on tight because this is a great drill.

I just got this drill and used it to secure some oak planking on a bridge we are building. The drill had plenty of power to sink 4" lag screws through the 2" thick oak planks (after drilling pilot holes, of course) and into the underlying structure. An older Craftsman drill that another guy had couldn't even get the screws started into the hard oak planks.

br /The removable side handle is a must in situations where you need a lot of torque. I let someone else try to use this drill and the first time it spun itself right out of their hands. The grip is very comfortable with just a little bit of rubber to help prevent slipping and I really like the two finger trigger. As another reviewer mentioned, the brake works well and the drill stops quickly. Overall an excellent drill, I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this recently from Lowes for $89. Now that I have used it for stirring 10 5 gallon buckets of stucco, I'd pay $130 for it. This thing got so hot mixing such thick cement the first time or two that white hot smoke rolled out of it and the smell of burning wiring made my wallet start to ache. I didn't care I had to get that stucco up. I thought for sure I was killing it with such a hard job. By the end of my tenth bucket it only smoked a little if I kept mixing past 6 minutes or so. To my suprise, after using that thing like I stole it, it doesn't even seem close to dying. One tough drill. I don't just like it. I admire it.

I came upon this drill at Lowe's last evening and bought it to replace my Ingersoll-Rand that I finally burned out after 27 years. The price was unbelievable considering the quality and power of this drill. I have always been impressed by Hitachi tools and highly recommend them.

This drill has lots of power. I use it to mix my thin set and grout for tile setting. Also to bore dozens of holes in studs for running romax though. But you can still overload it if you abuse it's power trying to mix to thick of a batch of thinset, as it's not really designed for real heavy work like that but if you pay attention to the sounds of an overworking drill or if it gets hot back off. I mixed over a half dozen bags of dry thinset with water without a problem. Just mix a third or more of a five gallon bucket at a time. That's about all I could put down before it's workable time was up anyway.

Great drill. Lot's of power. Nice brake. Two finger trigger..... BUT. This drill is a nightmare for left handed folks. The forward/reverse switch is in the way of my left hand grip, so I am always slamming the thing into reverse when I don't want to.

I am continually impressed with Hitachi tool performance, from the durable NR83a framing hammer to the variety of their smaller power tools like belt sanders and drills. The new recip-saw looks a bit like a fish, we fondly refer to it as "the big bass" when we're faced with a tough cutting job. We are waiting to see if this green machine can outdo anyother red or yellow rival.pI ordered this in August.....! Where the heck is it. In the past Hitachi has not let us down and the same is true for Amazon... so what's up...I've been patient, please find out what the hold up is.
