br /1420 is 1.3 amp and 1422 is 2.0 Amp.

Just received my makita flashlight/drill combo and i must say im very pleased, the drill is very powerful and well balanced. the light is incredibly bright and stays on for almost 2 hours with a full charge!
br /this new drill uses the older style NiCad batteries, and with lesser quality drills i might be a little aprehensive about buying them - but ive had a Makita 9.6 volt drill (which i use and abuse daily) with NiCad batteries for over 8 years now and it still works very well.
br /at $89.95 it's a Steal!

My old Makita driver drill died...the switch went bad, and I considered ordering a new switch and repairing it. The batteries had also gotten so they didn't hold a charge well, so I opted to get a new Makita Drill and Flashlight set. Wow! This driver has much more power, and the batteries seem to hold a charge forever. I'm very happy with the value for what it cost.

Nice cordless for applications not requiring the power of an 18V. Biggest advantages are 1. light and well balanced, 2. good for finished work (easy to control), and 3. durable after prolonged and tough use. Overall a solid tool.
Really got my monies worth!

Both the drill and flashlight work great, no more flashlight batteries needed here!
