The GMC A2G18V 2-Gear Hammerdrill is a powerful 18-volt cordless tool that provides extra torque, power, and durability for continuous drilling and screwdriving. Simple to use, this hammerdrill uses an auto spindle lock that permits the chuck to be tightened on bits using just one hand. table align=left width=150 cellpadding=10 tr td img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/th/detail-page/gtx2450k-1-sm.jpg" border=0 align=topbrbrsmallibCordless hammerdrill provides extra torque and power./b/i small/td/tr/table table align=right width=145 cellpadding=10 tr td img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/th/detail-page/gtx2450k-3-sm.jpg" border=1 align=topbrbrsmallibTwo speed gearbox./b/i/small/td/tr tr td img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/th/detail-page/gtx2450k-2-sm.jpg" border=1 align=topbrbrsmallibBattery indicator displays three levels of charge./b/i/small/td/tr /table The 20-stage clutch allows precisely the right torque for repetitive screwdriving control, while the variable speed reversing permits the selection of the correct speed for each application, such as unjamming bits and removing screws. The two-speed gearbox also allows you to select just the right speed and torque for particular applications.p If speed is what you're looking for, then the A2G18V is all yours. This tool features a 1/2-inch single sleeve keyless chuck for fast, convenient bit changes without the cumbersome need for a chuck key. And a hammerdrill would not be complete without the powerful hammer action that is essential for drilling into materials such as concrete, brick, and masonry.p The GMC hammerdrill is designed with 360-degree adjustable side handle that allows two-handed operation in the most convenient position to suit the operator and the task. This tool works around you and your environment -- no matter how irregular the position or the application, the A2G18V will help you get it done fast and safely. The battery indicator displays three levels of charge, so you'll always know how much juice you've got left. Another nice feature is the built-in LED light. When working in poorly lit areas, you can use this light to illuminate your work area for improved vision and safety.p Durability is the name of the game with all the best tool manufacturers, and GMC keeps with the pace. Extensive rubber over-molding covers the hammerdrill's side handle, batter pack, trigger switch, and drill handle. This tool includes two batteries, which allows you to always have a back-up on hand for continuous use.p br clear="all" bWhat's in the Box/bbr GMC A2G18V 24-Volt 2Gear hammerdrill and two rechargeable batteries.

I am a trades electrician and I use cordless drills on a daily basis. Up till now my best half inch chuck hammer drill cordless was a Milwaukee drill. It is an excellant product ( no question about it).
br /
br /After now purchasing this GMC Drill, I must say I am very impressed with this product. It performs extremely well under very hard work conditions, and holds up and does the job very nicely, in both drill mode as well as hammer drill mode. The one handed chuck is a very nice feature that my Milwaukee drill being older does not have, that is great.
br /
br /This drill functionally, seems as strong as any of my other drills. Truthfully, I must state that my opinion about this product is that if I consider its functional capabilities weighed against its affordable price, I beleive this to be my most valuable cordless hammer drill.
br /
br /I would recommend this drill to anyone who is wishing to purchase exceptional functional performance, yet still wishing to get the most performance for the best price. I am confident that others would be as impressed with the performance and price of this product as I am.

Pretty darn impressed....

I own a LOT of power tools of various name brands. Rarely do I buy something that's somewhat 'generic', but for the price of a hair under thirty bucks how could I go wrong? The GMC drill arrived this morning, and I promptly charged a battery and then took it with me for a days work.
br /
br /First off, it does not come off as a cheap drill to me. It feels weighty. Even the battery charger has a nice heft to it. The drill does have some rubber here and there, but that will keep it from scratching. The bottom of the batteries have rubber on them so that you're not scratching the batteries all up.
br /
br /The clutch is a little less forgiving than my Bosch or Dewalt hammer drills in that the lowest settings still don't slip as easily as I'd like. However the drill has good power and runs smoothly. I bought it mainly to dedicate to my Kreg Pocket Screw system but it works so good that I may have to rethink that. I've felt cheap tools and this one does not come across as being cheap. The plastic case is a bit cheap but hey it's the case, not the tool.
br /
br /I'm not sure if I'd pay full pop for a GMC drill, but for the price I got it for, it cannot be beat. I'm as picky as they come and this thing delivers. Hopefully it will last, but if not I'm not out much money. I normally don't write reviews, but the deal was so good that I just had to come here and perhaps gloat a little. :)

We have many models and manufacturers of hammer drills among our workers' tools here in Mexico (where everything is cement and hammer drills are the only useful drill to have); this is one of the best. Rivals the DeWalt, Ryobi and Makita models we have, which are a lot more expensive.
br /Especially well made, although that means it's quite heavy.
br /The LED lights that shine onto the drilling spot is a nice touch.

Much better than I thought

great piece of kit.

It's not the first one of these that I have owned but this feels by far the best (I've had Black and Decker, Bosch and a B&Q (large DIY chain in the UK) own brand)

It's power, speed and torque are good, chuck is easy to use, hammer action works well.

The better half thinks it is a little heavy but I think it's ok. It is well balanced anyway so you don't need to use any effort to hold it level.

Definitely recommend

Excellent drill. Comes in a suitcaselike kit with 2 batteries and a charger. The battery has plenty of juice, charges in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. There are 2 speeds, High and Low. Built in light.(you can drill in the dark). It also has a battery power meter. And best of all, its POWERFUL!!!!!
br /well worth the money.

Very heavy duty drill for the money. Nice case and 2 batteries and charger. I mix epoxies and concrete overlayment material with this drill and it doesn't bog down. High and low speed is nice because it doesn't splash out of the bucket. GREAT BUY

I've had this drill about a month and have used it multiple times. This drill has plenty of power, good battery life so far, and is built pretty heavy duty. Weight-wise the drill is quite heavy but as long as you aren't drilling above your head for long periods of time, it should be fine. The drill comes with 2 batteries, charger, case, and a decent manual. I recommend the unit, especially if it is on sale.

I purchased this drill May 22 2007. I figured, for the price (about 35 shipped)it was worth a shot.
br /
br /Pro: Extremely good torque on the low setting, led light for dusk use.
br /
br /Con: Weight, batteries run down with intermittent use in 1-2 hours, unless you let the batteries completely cool down the "smart" charger says it is charged and it isn't, drill housing is coming undone.
br /
br /I do not consider myself a heavy user. I do not do construction work on a daily basis. I use this for projects around the house and a recent project at work.
br /
br /The project I just completed took several days because the batteries kept dying so quickly. I was putting up a wood fence.
br /
br /Project before that was putting up 20 very thin sheet metal numbered plates. Used self tapping screws into a steel beam. It ate both batteries after 10 plates. Did the same thing on the 2nd set of the plates.
br /
br /I am glad this drill is working out for the majority of people, but for everyday use this is not the drill you want.
br /
br /I do not let the batteries just sit on the charger either. When they are charged, I take them off 30min - 1 hour after the charge light turns green.
br /
br /Next purchase will be a Ridgid with the Lithium batteries and the free battery replacement for life and life time warranty...

Only had this tool for a month but have used it for several projects. Great torque, batteries hold up well and recharge quickly. For the $$ I paid, it is an excellent tool, nice case, two batteries. I have not yet used the "hammer" function of the tool. My only minor complaint is the weight of the tool. Of course that may be due to the power of the tool, construction and properties of the battery. I would purchase again.

Have had the drill 2 months with several uses on the first charge. Seems sufficiently robust for my use, as a retired Mr. home-owner - so I'm not the best one to test out this drill's mettle. It replaced a Craftsman 14.4 volt drill, when the batteries died and the replacement cost was deemed excessive. So, for me this was a good investment - so far. Whether a contractor would say the same, is a separate matter. I'm granting four stars simply because of the relatively sporadic usage. My primary issue with battery powered tools is that the tool is ready to go, when I need it. So, so far so good.

you can't go wrong at this price.

Since my expensive drill is being held hostage by my EX I needed one fast. I am impressed. I have been hanging cabinets all week driving 3 inch fine thread screws and the drill never bogged down. The battery life is out standing. you get two batts and it only takes an hour to charge. the light on the drill is great for dark cabinets. My only complaint is that it is a little heavy and the Hammer function doesn't to hammer so well.

I was skeptical at first that a cordless hammer drill could be good enough at such a low price. I have been convinced that this is a fine tool for the price. The clutch was slightly stiff at first but then began working perfectly. The hammer drill works very well with the exception of a non-rotating hammer function which is sometimes needed. The battery lasts a long time and recharges quickly. What more could one ask for?

I have not used this thing extensively, however, I did use it (with a 3/8" driver adapter) to help me remove the lug nuts when changing my tires from snows to summer tires. It was a big help. I like this drill especially because although it has a good amount of torque, I was able to easily control it via pressing the trigger less than full. This way, I can get slower/low power turns and then as I feel more safe about turning, I can go full speed by pressing fully. The included handle is a great addition as it lets you use more of your body to hold the drill in place. Note that the drill is somewhat heavy. I'm betting that smaller people might find this more difficult to use without using the extra handle. For more stronger/bigger people, you will like the weight as it helps steady the drill. For what I paid, this product has a very good usefulness to price ratio -- highly recommended for household/everyday use. I'm betting you can do some pretty heavy duty things with this.

I needed a cordless drill for around the home and came across this bad boy. I particularly loved the battery indicator as I usually let it run down before charging and this gave me the impetus to ensure I had the batteries charged when I required it.
br /18V gave me plenty of power and I found that in all the situations I needed it, this drill never let me down.
br /The light was quite handy as I had to do some work in the basement in a very dark spot and this made it a little easier.
br /All up quite a sturdy drill, one I am very happy with!!

We had a few Bosch cordless drills and I was looking to demo this one. It works just as great if not better, and the price was definitely a great sell. Construction is sturdier than I expected, and I will definitely get more of these if any of our old drills should fail. It's a no-brainer for us!

The GMC Drill/Driver Set was exactly as advertised, and a great value! I have used it a number of times both as a straight drill/driver and as a hammer drill. The battery seems to hold charge consistent with other 18V products.
br /
br /The only problem I had was that it was a little difficult at first to twist the control into the hammer mode. That seems to be loosening up, however.

Over all I find this drill a good little worker ,for the price you can't complain at at all, it has torque and a long lasting battery , and a little nice touch a auto locking clutch on the chuck for installing the drill bit you want to ensure its held tight ,and of course that light good for dark corners. I am a firm believer in not paying for a name to get quality and this drill is a good example of that , I use my drill on a day to day basis as a security engineer , so if this lasts a year and I sure it will last longer) it will do good , at a quater of the cost of a dewalt my previous drill whose gears gave up!

br /
br /The drill is nice, heavy, and solid. I haven't had time to do a whole heck of a lot with it yet (haven't found many things to drill through) but what tasks I have tried with it, it has handled with ease. The LED workspace lights on the drill are very handy (and surprisingly bright). They also double as a battery life indicator.

You know those cheap $29.95 drills you get from H****** Freight that work for about ten seconds before the battery dies? This drill isn't anything like that; except for the price. I first used it to hammer drill through cinder block; worked great. I have been using it on a residing project for a couple of weeks and the battery is still running at full speed.
br /
br /There's no bit storage, but it's a great deal for the price and the hammer action comes in handy. I've never met a sub-pro cordless drill I'd recommend; until now. This is a great little drill.

First review of an item... ever. Here it goes.
br / I was impressed at first by its weight, look, feel and after a quick battery charge, its performance. I haven`t worked it much yet, but after owning numerous Brand name tools including cordless ones... this drill is worth the money... easy! I`ll take this over my Dewalt or Ryobi, they have broken so many times I won`t ever buy another.

Was going to buy Makita Hammer drill which ran over $200.00...When I saw this drill and read reviews of trades people who have used it I felt for the price ($38.00)you can't go wrong. I have not used the drill for a project yet but it appears like a substantial tool. It appears to run well when testing it. I was impressed by the Lcd lights which either light work area or indicate battery strength. It comes with case 2 18volt batteries a charger and a manual. I have seen a Makita charger go for the price of this drill...go for it!

Got it at 37.04. Very well built although there are lots of plastics . About 1.5x heavier than a Craftsman of similar specs - Better material in critical parts (gears, clutch).
br /
br /The charger and batteries seem better than those at Sears.

br /No spec on torque in the manual.

I would recommend this drill to any potential buyers. For the price I paid, it might be one of the best values of any drills on the market. With this drill, you get 2 18v batteries and a one hour charger. The battery charge has lasted me a month, although I have used it only sparingly.

My hammer drill arrived 30 minutes ago. Ordered Saturday, arrived Tuesday at noon via GROUND shipping. I'm impressed... two business days!
br /
br /Anyhow, the drill arrived very loosely packed in an amazon box (just some air bags thrown on top). Not GMC's fault at all, totally amazon's. Not impressed with that.
br /
br /Inside the amazon box was a generic cardboard box with 18v hammer/drill typed on it.
br /
br /Inside that was a typical hard-molded plastic case, again generic.
br /
br /Inside that was the drill, two batteries, charger and owner's manual.
br /
br /I have one battery charging now. The drill seems in the medium-duty range. Mostly made out of plastic, but very heavy indicating steel parts inside? Lots of rubber on the exterior in what I guess is an attempt to absorb drops/falls/etc?
br /
br /Charger is very nice with on/charging LED's. It's a 1 hr charger.
br /
br /Owner's manual is very complete and indicates a 2 yr replacement warranty for "domestic household use." English is well written and there is a Spanish guide, too.
br /
br /Will post on use when the battery is charged.
