bAbout Panasonics Revolithium Series of Cordless Power Tools/bBR Panasonic's Revolithium cordless power tools incorporate original technologies for exceptional safety and reliability. Battery cells are individually monitored to ensure optimal discharge control, and if the battery voltage falls too low, or if the battery is about to become too hot during heavy-duty use, a sensor system cuts off power and flashes a warning lamp on the control panel. All models in the Revolithium series come with an extra battery pack as standard equipment, a charger that accepts any current Panasonic model battery, and a carrying case for additional storage. p bAbout This Revolithium Cordless Combo Kit/bbr Cordless combo kit EYC140B is an exceptional value, because it contains both the 14.4-volt drill/driver EY7440LN2S and 14.4-volt impact driver EY7540LN2S. Both of these great drivers are powered by revolutionary Revolithium batteries that are designed to work hard and stay cool. p bCordless Drill/Driver/bbr The 14.4-volt EY7440LN2S has a high-capacity 3Ah lithium-ion battery, which incorporates Panasonic original technology to reduce overheating and extend the service life of the unit. This battery ensures that the overall unit is lighter and more compact for comfortable, easy use. p The EY7440LN2S drill/driver generates an impressive high-power maximum torque of 390 in./lbs., which makes it ideal for drilling and screwing into materials from metal sheets to wood. And control is never an issue. This model features variable speed operation including a reverse function, as well as an 18-stage clutch, plus drill position and electric brake. Other features include an LED light and belt hook. p bKey Technical Specs:/bBRUL LI High power: up to 390 in./lbs. of torque LI Speeds: 2-speed gearbox, low 60-400 rpm; high 200-1350 rpm LI Clutch: 18-stage plus drill mode LI Chuck: 1/2-inch heavy-duty keyless /UL p bCordless Impact Driver/bBR The Panasonic Revolithium Impact Driver EY7540LN2S has a brushless motor with microcomputer control to maximize the motor's lifespan, protect against overheating and reduce the amount of electricity used compared to previous Panasonic models. Better motor performance means the main unit's temperature remains constant even during heavy construction work. p Torque levels adjust to suit the work or materials -- hard, medium or soft -- so you always get a clean finish. The ergonomic design incorporates a white LED light, so it's easy to see your work area even when working in dark corners. This model's lightweight body and rubberized handle fit easily and comfortably in your hand, and it hangs handily from your belt via the convenient belt hook. p This 14.4 volt model offers a maximum torque of 1,330 in./lbs., variable speed control including reverse, and an electric brake. This set is awesome, especially the drill. Battery life is very long, and they hold charge for a long time when not in use. The battery locking mechanism is very positive and never sticks when you try to release it - very smooth. The drills are very light and compact. The flip-out lever is a feature I use much more often than I thought I would. You can buy a drill holder for you belt for any drill but you have to find it and wear it to make use of it - this one is always there and works very well. I use it for ladder and attic work especially. Also the light, which seemed gimmicky to me, has come in very handy doing attic work, and in other low-light situations. I use the impact driver much less frequently; it is quite capable of breaking #10 screws even on low-torque setting. But, I assembled a large wooden children's play fort that had MANY bolts and it was fantastic for that. Overall these are the best engineered tools I own, and I have a lot of tools. I have owned the set just 4 months so I cannot comment on durability but they seem very tough. Not cheap, but a good value.

these are awesome

I am a model maker so I needed a drill that is light powerful and strong. I have had Dewalts Makitas and Bosches. None of them compare. These are by far superior to anything I have ever used. They are sleek and put hand twisting power into some very tight places. I use these drills alot every day and they are a pleasure to use. I will never buy another drill that is not a panasonic again. thanks, nathan@thereplicagroup.com

I'm a professional awning/patio cover/carport installer. Over the years I've tried just about every quality brand of cordless drill/driver out there. Most of the Ni-cad batteries would lose their ability to hold a charge after only a few months, and would have to be replaced. I've also blown my share of transmissions, even on a Dewalt XPR. I'd usually end up replacing my drill/drivers every year.

br /About 4 years ago I gave the Panasonic 15.6 volt Ni-Metals a shot. After 3 years of use, they never missed a beat. Batteries still held a charge like new, and I'd still be using them if they weren't stolen out of my truck last December. These Lith-Ions had just come out, so I gave them a try as replacements to the stolen drills. Though they have slightly less power and a little less run time then my old Panasonics, they still run circles around the competition. The compact size and feather weight are well worth the slight trade offs. I've been working these drills like dogs for the past 9 months and they still run like new. Even driving 1/4" x 3" lags all day long on high speed doesn't slow down the drill. The impact driver runs 3/8" x 6" lags into wood studs in a matter of seconds and the battery charge lasts all day (sometimes two). Once again Panasonic did it right.

Best drill and impact Ive used yet!

I purchased the panasonic 14.4 drill when it came out in late 2007, I was hesitant about paying the $300+ price tag but I always had good luck with panasonics 12volt models. I figured ths one should top them all, boy was I let down! The drill worked great for three months and then it stopped working, I contacted panasonic and they refered me to a local service center for repair. After two months being at the repair shop, I received my drill with a new switch asmbly. Two weeks later, the same problem. I have cut my loss on this one due to time restraints. perhaps it was made on a Friday before a major holiday in China.

Two carpenters on my crew bought this set and each snapped the drill in half after a 6 foot drop onto a wood deck. TWO DRILLS on one job. Seems quite a few people are seeing this problem. I'd be surprised if Panisonic doesn't address this design flaw quickly. We're all buying this set because the 15.6v NiMH drill is a legend. Hopefully they don't ruin their rep with this poor design. A home owner/DYI will probably been fine with set but pros know drills drop. I had a Craftsmen drill dropped dozens of times and kept ticking for years. Check out the Makita Lithiums... I've used those on two jobs and they seem to hold up better.

I am a professional carpenter and have used several drills over the years. This is the second Panasonic I have owned. i like the 15.6v very much. I paid the premium for the 14.4 drill and imapct driver kit for its leight weight and long run time expecting great things. In the course of the last 6 weeks I (or one of the crew) have dropped both- neither from more than 6 feet and both have snapped completely in half right by the trigger and broke- Panasonic would not fix the first one I called about but I am going to do battle over the second. Tools are going to fall- mine at least. The tool is too fragile to be on any jobsite.

This is the third generation of Panasonic Drills (Drivers) I have owned, but this generation has been a great disappointment. They are very lite weight and that is the best thing going for them. I have arthritis in my hands, wrists and fingers and I can't say enough about the weight for that reason. They worked every bit as good as the 15.6 volt series when I got them and only weigh half as much. You can't shut off the impac on the driver, so I only use it when I have too. The old 15.6 impac would work both ways, it's almost like having an extra drill, that was nice, glad I kept it. I used this pair of new drivers a lot for the first six months and now after not using them for two months, they don't seem to have the run time they had before. But my biggest disappointment was when I dropped one off a 6 foot ladder after I had it about three months. It broke into two pieces, I couldn't believe it. I had dropped all my other panasonic drills as far as from the roof and never broke any of them. Though I have to admit I am not as careful with my tools as I could be, (but my chain saw is 37 years old and my lawn tractor is older than that and I still us them every year). I have some excuses though maybe not good ones. These new drills have a nice large flat base but when they have a bit in them they are front heavy and are always falling over, with a 1/2" drill bit, they won't sit at all. When I am on my ladder now I try to stick the bit into a hole in the top of the ladder to keep it from falling. I called Panasonic and told them I did something stupid, dropped my drill off my ladder and would they fix it. They said, yes, that was sure stupid and no they won't fix it for free. I said none of my other Panasonic Drills were this fragile. They said they were not made to be dropped, sorry. I called my credit card company and they were going to send me a new drill, I said I only needed it repaired and it is fixed and they paid for it. I also dropped one again and this time broke the battery case, they just don't sit, when will I learn? I know you are saying, what a klux, but these as made in China now and they are thin, thin, thin, hence the the light weight. I started writing the review today when I found myself looking at the Panasonic 18 volt, longing for something strong and with a long run time, but darn they are heavy.

I have had the kit for 2 weeks and have used both items and love them. they perform exactly like I hoped they would; powerful, lightweight and long battery life. The only thing I don't like about them is their durability. I dropped the drill on concrete from about 30" and it landed on the corner of the battery and broke the corner and one clip of the housing that hold the battery in place. It still held with the cracked corner and one less clip but every other drill I have had has never broken and have been dropped many times. Then the other day my wife moved my ladder, not knowing the drill on on top, and it fell again this time on carpet from about 6 feet. The corner cracked more and another clip broke off. Not much holding the battery on any more but it is still working.
