The Makita 6233DWAE is one great drill the 14.4 volt has all the power you'll need. I knew it had more then enouff power for drill and driving in wood from Ash to pine but the real test came when I was ask to do some work at the store I work for. My boss ask if I could instill some eye bolts on the check stand so that chains could be added to block off the land when it was not in use. The sides of these check stands are made of stainless steel about 3/32" thick. The drill had more then enouff power. I was able to drill sixteen 1/4" holes with only one battery. But it took two drill bits. Anyone who has drilled through stainless knows just how hard stainless is. The Makita 6233DWAE is a top quality tool and is the best cordless drill I've owened. And with the two batterys that will recharge in one hour you'll never run out of the power you need. So if you are just drillign and driving in pine or you have yo drill throught stainless steel the Makita 6233DWAE is for you. It keeps (you know the rest)

I've owned two 14.4v Makita Drills over the last five years. The first was a 3/8" drill that I torchered, beat, dropped, and generally abused. Over the 21/2 years working 6 days a week as an electrician I used that drill every day to secure outlet boxes, fixures, panels, and j-boxes with 11/4" to 3" wood screws. I used it for hole-sawing countless 7/8" to 11/8" holes in electrical panels for emt and romex connectors. I,ve dropped that drill off 8', 10', and 12' ladders mostly on concrete floors, the second worst thing that happened was one of the latches on the battery broke after droping it off a 12' ladder. I finally did it in dopping it bit first onto a rock after an 8' ladder kicked out from under me busting the trigger. So, I bought a 20th anav. 14.4v Makita w/an 1/2" chuck and after over two years it shows no signs of slowing down and I'm still using one of the batteries from my original drill. I have yet to use a 14.4v or 18v Dewalt that could hold a candle to my Makita,s as far as power, performance, or longevity. I've watched many of my coworkers Dewalt's go by the wayside do to clutches, stripped gears, or they let the smoke out of the motor.

I have owned this drill for about four years. It has a great fit in your hand and handles most anything. My only gripe is that it is just a little underpowered when it comes to 2 1/2 3 inch drywall screws. My DeWalt corded drill pounds these in.

I have had all the cordless drill's you can think of but i have never had a drill as awesome as this one. You really chould not ask for a better drill it is comfortable it fit's like a glove has to much power. But you can never have to much power you know what i mean. Basically i whould recommend this drill to all my friend's which mean's you too if you have read this...

I bought this drill from amazon 2 years ago. Everything works great but, after 2 years of use chuck had worn out. You could tighten chuck and it would loosen itself up after a few minutes use. So, I decided to replace chuck with the same chuck from makita. Center set screw inside chuck was so tight (allen wrench head screw) I ended up having to cut part of chuck off and slot set screw so I could remove set screw with flat screwdriver. Then come to find out chuck was also threaded on end of shaft. Called makita was told to lock chuck in vise and use drills power to loosen chuck. Guess what stripped gears out of gear box in drill. Ended up having to replace set screw, gear box and chuck. Apparently makita overtightened chuck at factory. The allen set screw only is deep enough to get abought a 1/32 of the wrench to grab into the set screw. oh by the way I called makita service center before I cut chuck and the service guy at makita said there wasn't anything he could tell me why chuck wouldn't come off. You pay a big price and still get poor quality. How can you win with these odds?

Have had this for over 9 years and it's working as good as the day I bought it.

I have owned this drill for over 5 years and have been extremely pleased with the results. The main reason that I initially purchased the Makita over others was the battery technology. At the time, nearly all other cordless tools were using Ni-Cad batteries and the Makita came with two NiMH for the same cost as a DeWalt or Milwaukee. I had never owned Makita tools before this one and I'm glad that I made the right decision.

br /My first project with this drill was to build a deck, I was surprised to find that it would twist the heads off of 3-1/2" stainless steel screws. Since then, I have used this thing for nearly every driving/drilling project that you can think of from hanging sheetrock to mixing buckets full of brick mortar. The 1/2" chuck is nice for larger bits and mixer applications.

br /After 5 years of use, I am still using the two original batteries and have noticed about at 20-30% drop in battery life although a flat battery will still charge up faster than I can run down a full one. Once that ratio changes, I'll probably have to spring for two new batteries. I have not had to repair or replace anything on this drill (except for a few lost or stripped out driver bits).

br /Another nice feature is that the drill will stand upright (as shown in the picture) when placed on a flat surface. Although this is minor, I have used other drills that roll over to one side or have to be placed horizontally. Having the drill standing up is nice if you are in a tight situation or have to do a quick grab and fasten to get a screw in place (anyone who has hung sheetrock without help knows what I'm talking about).
